The new age of Volumetric Warehousing has arrived with construction of Insight Logistics Park (ILP) at Yatala QLD now complete. ILP incorporates two warehouses, each providing 20,391m2 of interior, column free space. The column free ‘Volumetric’ design increases usable floor area and storage volumes. ‘Volumetric’ design is made possible by two engineering innovations;
- The 68 m internal span is column free, with supporting columns located outside the exterior walls. This creates an additional 14% usable floor space and improved operational efficiencies.
- Internal storage height is a minimum of 10 metres across the 68 metre clear span, a 25% increase in useable storage height compared to a typical 8 metre high facility.
The benefits gained through “Volumetric” technology can significantly reduce storage and distribution costs.
ILP provides 8,400m2 of awnings, representing 21% additional roofed area. The 7 metre wide x 300 metre long awnings are floodlit to enable 24/7 handling in all weather conditions.
The development incorporates environmental initiatives including;
- Water collection and storage from 56,000m2 of roof area. Water is used for fire fighting reserves, irrigation of the site’s extensive landscaping and for use in amenities.
- Electricity consumption is minimized by optimal use of translucent sky lighting, complemented by see-through perforated steel roller doors.
- Solar power generation has been considered and provisions made for future installation.
ILP is located in the Yatala Enterprise Area midway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, just three minutes off the Pacific Highway at Stapylton.
The location provides convenient linkage to Brisbane CBD, Gold Coast, Port of Brisbane, and all major interstate road networks.
